Traversal Devlog 1: 15/05/2023
What is Traversal?
If you're a Tumblr passerby* and don't know anything about Traversal, it's an action RPG where you find yourself stranded in the middle of the Atlantic ocean and have to traverse through nine islands to return back to Canada.
Additions to the Game:
The current public version of the demo released in January. It's the first island of the game. Since then, I've added a LOT of things to the game. I've revamped the settings menu, added an accessibility onboarding screen when you first boot up the game, and added an interface for the game's previously inaccessible inventory system. There's more, but those feel like "the big things."
(This is something I'll definitely want feedback on when it's released to make it the best it can be for those who need these settings.)
Second Island Progress:
The second island is around 45% complete as of writing this. I'm hoping to get as much of the second and third island done before school starts back up in September. I believe I'm on track to accomplish this goal. Then again, I'm an extreme optimist about things like this, so take that with a grain of salt.
Update News:
I plan to release a patch to the demo as soon as possible. This will add elements I've mentioned before such as the inventory menu, and the revamped settings. Unfortunately, the second island will still not be playable, so it will just be the first island. However, I've made some minor changes to the first island, so I hope returning players enjoy checking those changes out.
Conclusion:
Until then, you can play Traversal's current, January demo on GameJolt and Itch.io. There is a game category for Traversal on Twitch, but the current demo is only, like, ten minutes of content, so don't go and plan a whole Traversal stream.
