Playing games is so much better when you know nothing about the game you're playing.

I hold the belief that you shouldn't research a game if you're going to play it. When I first played Undertale, I knew everything there was to know about every route of the game, and as a result, it was a lot less special to me than it was for a lot of people who played the game blind. I'm a game developer now, and I get so much more out of someone playing my game who doesn't know anything about it than someone who I've talked to about the characters or the story or how something is programmed.

Next time you see a game that you think you might like, just jump into it. Obviously, watch the trailer and look at reviews—don't waste your money—but don't go into a game after spoiling yourself of its story, or knowing all about its characters, or researching how the game works under-the-hood. Experience the game first—have that personal experience with the game, an experience that is wholly yours—then experience the discussion surrounding it; not the other way around.
