October is finally Oct-over!

If you followed me on Cohost, which shut down on the first of October, and you didn't follow my adventures further on Tumblr or Bluesky, this blogpost is for you! Here's a collection of my posts from my Bluesky and Tumblr, so that you, too, may be able to experience my postings beyond Cohost and through your RSS Reader (or just through opening this page, I guess).

This is something I planned to do when I set up this website over a month ago, so here it is: the Chillin social media experience of October 2024, complete with annotations about almost every post!

Normally, for a month like October where my profile picture changes, the first post of the month would be related to my profile picture, but, since I had no idea how much longer Cohost had, I thought I might as well post a 503 first byte error I'd gotten, the signature error of Cohost.

This is the first time that the Halloween monster, ghoul, or other weird guy I'd chosen to don for my October profile picture already had a design. This Robot Chillin was initially created in 2020, but I've mildly redesigned her a few times since then.

This post, put exclusively on Bluesky this month, was posted elsewhere before I was active on Bluesky. You'll notice another example of this crossposting-old-posts, since I just wanted to put some of my favourite posts of the past on this new platform.

This was posted before the Eyeblossom and Resin was announced. Hell, as of writing this, it was added to Java Edition in a snapshot four hours ago. (Now you know I didn't write this exclusively on the day this releases! Damnit!)

Just so we're clear, the only feeds I have on here are "Following" and one I thought was funny called "My Bangers" which is just your own posts. (They're in order of most likes, but I don't care about that; I have a userscript that hides numbers of everything but comments, because Eggbug forever.)

When I release some posts to both websites, I'll change them up depending on the platform. In thie case of this post, only the second half changes, and because of that, I wanted to attach both versions of the post in this archive.

A Bluesky Exclusive as well: I'd noticed a lot of people were posting about how much better their Bluesky posts were performing compared to their Tweets—here's an example from Heartbound developer, Thor of Pirate Software—and, as someone who actively avoids numbers since Cohost, it was kind of pissing me off. So, I made this post to parody the post type and also showcase Qwarq's user style, because it's awesome.

(Just so we're clear, I understand, for those whose livelihood is built off of social media, why they would be interested in this—and in sharing this. Me being pissed off was purely emotional, not logical.)

Another Bluesky exclusive: that was a minor trend I'd seen (initially through Frogun developer, Molegato), and I just wanted to riff off of it. The original text read "get to know my game taste", "for every like, i will post one game i love ♡", and blackout poetry is always funny online.

i got very used to typing "tw" into the url bar and then hitting enter to let my browser autofill "twitter.com," and, wanting to do that with bluesky, i typed "bl" and hit enter, but, with bluesky's url being "bsky.app", it didn't autofill shit, immediately hitting me, instead, with boy love.

For context, I've been assigned a cat fursona by my friend, Tims, and I'd embraced the design for several (and, in my opinion, cringey) catgirl memes about myself.

For double context, in the latest Jaiden Animations video, I got a cat., her pet cat, who she named "Tostada", was named Cami (or Kami or Cammie or some other way to spell /ˈkæm.i/) by its foster parents before living with Jaiden and Alpharad, and, had that name stuck, the connection between the Cami, the cat, and Cami, the me, would remind me of that catgirl history.

Yes, my WEBFISHING character model is the cat.

Glad I figured this out, but holy fuck, was this stressful. I was in VC with my friend, Mel (meltsyroom), at the time, and I just had to go on mute for an hour while I figured it out. It was not a fun time. We didn't even get to play Minecraft Bedwars, possibly with controllers.

Last Bluesky exclusive of the month: Toby Fox (on Bluesky and on Twitter) has been shitposting, sentencemixing the "check it out I'm in the house like carpet" line from Burning Men's Soul off of the Persona: Trinity Soul soundtrack. I was looking through Rainey's Twitch clips and found a clip where she improvised a Spamton rap verse using Burning Men's Soul and, since the clip tied a Toby Fox character to the song, I figured I'd make a joke about it (mostly in an attempt to promote her Twitch channel. They call me Shillin.)

While I didn't release it exactly at midnight, this drawing keeps up the tradition of creating a "scarier" illustration of my profile picture. However, this one does deviate from the "glass break theme" I established as being a thing last year, because I forgot to add it. Whoops. (However, I did go back and attempt to make an updated, shattery one, but it just looked worse, so I didn't bother attempting to make an updated, theme-fitting one without anyone noticing.)

The text on the sides of the frame is a direct excerpt from the aforementioned GameMaker issue: the copy-and-pasted ProjectTool console output from when it refused to open Traversal's project file.
