Monthly Post Archive - October 2025

Last October in 2024, I said goodbye to chosting and hello to... Bluesky? That just doesn't seem okay. Anyway, with that, came the Monthly Post Archive, a blogpost that feigns to be an archive, but is actually just a director's commentary for my posts. Maybe one day, I'll bake the posts into this website rather than using embeds. One thing's for certain: today is not that day.

So, last year, I was a robot, and this year, I'm... fire. Can you tell I'm running out of classic Halloween monsters to impersonate? What's next? Air?

... In all fairness, that'd be pretty easy to draw.

I really should've made the outlines thicker though. The recurring bit throughout October on Discord was that I was just white for spooky month because it was not apparent that it was fire when scaled down to profile picture size. If you're reading this on a smartwatch, you might get what I'm talking about.

Silana reached out to me earlier in the week asking if I'd like to participate in Part 2 of her ongoing weekly segmented subathon. On the stream, I played Among Us and Gartic Phone. You can't really be bad at Gartic Phone, but I haven't played Among Us since before they added roles beyond just "Impostor" and "Crewmate". I sucked shit at that, man. It was bad for me. It was also funny, but that's hardly important. I wanted an Impostor victory, something I got when we turned off the "new" roles for a round. I kicked ass at that. And I kicked ass at Card Swipe too like I always did. I still got it. With "it" referring to being goated by 2020 standards.

I always forget "GRWM" stands for "Get Ready With Me" and read it as "grow worm". And there's gotta be something wrong with me because I never want to, from "GRWM" alone, watch whatever I imagine these worm growth videos will be.

If I could articulate it better, it's the idea of a worm video paired with the sometimes glistening, mid-skin-care-routine faces in thumbnails. I just see that and think worm slime, and while worms and their slimes are awesome, I just don't want to watch someone coated in worm slime (which I definitely what's going on) try to apply makeup. It'd just be a lot easier if the worm slime was never a part of the equation.

Huh? "That didn't help explain it at all"? Well, I've done all I can do.

This was not a joke by the way. When I see a video where an artist opens Paint, I go "okay, cool." When they open Photoshop, I go "oh, you use Photoshop? Why? Use literally anything else." And this is true. Use literally anything else; fuck the "industry standard". Where's that one infographic with all the alternatives to Adobe products?

When I was asked to show up for the third part of the subathon, I agreed and woke up barely in time for it. I was waking up early to fully wake up before the 16:00-19:00 Minecraft segments and forgot I agreed to join for the earlier, 14:00-15:30 Supermarket Together segment.

Since this stream, I've been watching a lot of Northernlion through Librarian's stream edits, and when Apollo posited and NL corroborated that ~95% of streamers treat scheduling like a suggestion, I think about this moment and, quite frankly, I hate to admit that, as a streamer, I was in the 95 percentile here. Sorry, Sil.

Yeah, I wrote a thing on Deltarune and my thoughts on it after playing and considering its latest two chapters. As the post implies, it doesn't really matter. If you're interested in it, check it out. Otherwise, don't.

I actually started writing this in June/July, but I forgot about it until, while watching BornLosersClassic's blind Deltarune playthrough, heard Ian refer to the World Revolving leitmotif as the "freedom leitmotif", the community-designated name that every person, normal or not, in the Deltarune fandom calls it, and I went "no, no. I disagree. Wasn't I making a contrarian piece? Where did I put that unfinished blogpost?" and I, well, finished it.

Now, I was looking for the BornLosersClassic video with the moment I was talking about so I could link it, and while Ctrl+F-ing each video's transcript with a search for "freedom", I found out that, hey, the exact point I made in the original post about the "freedom leitmotif" thing was wrong. I should never have doubted you, Ian. I've thrown a correction at the bottom of the Deltarune blogpost's page for anyone who wants to know what that is.

I wanted to, for this piece, focus on the silhouette a bit more. Maybe make it more clear it's meant to be fire too. If you compare it to the profile picture from the top of the month, you'll notice it actually has darker outlines.

The fires on either side of this Fire Chillin being as tall as they are was actually thanks to a recommendation from Aspestose. In an earlier draft, they were shorter, coming up to thighs at the highest. I actually spent a while trying to rework the fire; so much so that I released this a half-hour into Halloween rather than at its midnight, which I'd planned. Luckily, I learned my lession, right? Don't look at how long past midnight this Monthly Post Archive was written.

The Halloween art from last year was actually even later anyway, so even late, I'm a winner.

Looking back at that original Monthly Post Archive from last year, I seemingly posted it past five in the morning, which feels abhorrently late in my opinion. Nevertheless, that does mean that, despite what I said in the introduction, it won't be officially a year since the first ever Post Archive for, like, two hours. But that's just our little secret, okay?
