"What the hell? She's still doing these? But there hasn't been one all year! What? Did she just not post anything until September?"
yeah.
So, after having not posted any original posts this year, I figured I'd try to stay consistent. However, these birthday posts have become an annual tradition on the social platforms I use. I stopped doing it on Twitter when I left there but I'm still very much on Tumblr and Bluesky, so skipping it this year felt like the wrong move. So, between keeping the consistency of this nine-month, no-posting thing and the consistency of a multi-year tradition, I went with the latter.
So, what resulted is the first post of the year so far, in September (which is not too dissimilar to what happened last year where my first post in September was my twenty-first birthday post) which means I needed to make one of these for the first time since the new year.
It being my "champagne birthday" — turning 22 on the 22nd — I'm reminded of the all-timer, better September 22nd champagne birthday, my friend mmrainey22's. In 2022, mmrainey22 turned 22. Which is, like, fucked up. Because how do you beat that. It's the perfect champagne birthday. There's only a set amount of years left for that opportunity to grace others (like, until 2031) before we have to wait for people to start being born at the turn of the century again, and that's assuming putting numbers in your username will be cool again by then (if there even are usernames or some analogue to them).
If this jumpscared you on your RSS feed (or you're just checking the website), you really didn't have to click through to read all this. It's very nothing. No clue if I'll post anything more this year, but we'll just have to wait and see. I'm working on a few smaller creative projects to have something to release during the drought caused by how long Traversal's taking to make (which I do recognize delays Traversal more than if I just eat, slept and breathed Traversal, but y'know) and if those do release this year, then I'll probably post about them which means another iconic one-embed-long Monthly Post Archive blogpost for 2026. Until then though, have a nice spooky month everyone!
(If you're reading this past September, I hope your month is spooky nonetheless.)
